October 2014The Passing of a Legend, and Sagapo at IMEX America

euromic bids farewell to its first president, Harry Baum

It is with fond memories and great sadness that we learned of the recent passing of Harry Baum, an industry pioneer and legendary figure. Known for his wit, intellect and wisdom, Harry was a treasured member of the euromic family and will be greatly missed by all.

"Harry taught our industry around the globe a great deal", says Mr. Karim El Minabawy, President of euromic . "He was truly a teacher and mentor to many of us as well as to many people around the world."

Harry served as the first president of euromic from 1974 to 1976 after the association's founding in 1973. It was during his presidency that much of euromic's unchanging philosophy was introduced. These ideals guide our work today, and we continue to focus on local expertise, creativity, ethics, top quality programs and the best service to our valued clients.

euromic supports Sagapo Children's Foundation at IMEX America

For every appointment made with one of euromic's 37 member DMCs at the upcoming IMEX America in Las Vegas, a donation will be made to Sagapo Children's Foundation. This is in addition to euromic's ongoing financial commitment to charitable organizations.

Sagapo is dedicated to working with children, families and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential through education. Their mission is to create a better learning environment for children and increase awareness among their parents, communities, and governments about the necessity and importance of proper education. The organization was founded by Christina Drakos, who is also the President of Drakos DMC, the euromic member in Cyprus, and is one of our charities of choice.

One of the Ten Golden Rules of euromic is that all euromic members perform as "orchestral leaders harmonizing all requested services".

The Global Summit of The Consumer Goods Forum, which took place in the Halic  Congress Centre Istanbul between 20-22nd June in 2012, brought together top CEOs and senior management of over 700 of the world's top retailers, manufacturers, service providers and other stakeholders across 70 countries. Forum member companies have combined sales of EUR 2.1 trillion and their retailer and manufacturer members employ over 9.1 million people.

« Over the three days, we succeeded with all press conferences, transportations, store visits,  technical arrangements and over 25 lunch and dinner events both at the Halic Congress Center and venues all around the Istanbul such as Cıragan Palace Kempinski, Esma Sultan Palace, Sabanci Museum and Maiden’s Tower. In this event(s), every single one of our project manager performed as a Orchestral Leader and a conductor.

A conductor doesn't play every instrument, but he knows every note in the piece. He knows the phrasing of each movement. Each Project Manager at ODS knew the ebb and flow of the every single planning & dinner event within the three days whether they managedit or not... A good conductor also understands at a profound level how the instruments interact. All PMs worked very closely during the three days and supported each other when there was a need for contribution.

Our project managers “conducted" each event fluently and did not run themselves to perform all the parts because they knew that they were the foundation for each event  - keeping everyone working together through their leadership! »
