Amadeus, Amadeus... let’s celebrate!

March 2005

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is the most renowned Austrian of all time, revered throughout the world. 2006 marks the 250th anniversary of his birthday.
As famous as a pop star even during his own lifetime, Mozart is justly regarded as the epitome of a musical genius. His music belongs, not to one country, but to the world at large.

Consider this sample itinerary and travel 4 days through Vienna and Salzburg in his footsteps…

Day 1

Arrival in Vienna and check-in in one of the cozy central located hotels

“Unknown Mozart- The world of Wolfgang Amadéus”
Spend the afternoon walking through the inner city- the old part of the city, representing life of Viennese citizenship, with its backyards, churches and palaces will be our main focus-. His noble accommodation at the Domgasse, St Stephens Cathedral- important for his musical succeed, the ‘Milchgasse’ where he always met his bosom friend, pubs and palaces where he gave concerts.
Have an early dinner in the heart of Vienna.

In the evening, the Vienna Mozart Orchestra or the Vienna Boys’ choir will be performing in historical costumes in venues such as the golden Hall of the ‘Musikverein’, the ‘Konzerthaus’ and the Imperial Palace.

Day 2

After breakfast we will get in touch with ‘The baroque Vienna and its Aristocracy’.
Imperial palace, church of St Charles and theatres were the main attraction for glamorous, social events. We will visit the Hofburg, National Library (autography of Mozart’s compositions), and the Schönbrunn castle, where he gave already a concert at the age of 5!

In the afternoon we will visit the cemetery of St. Marx, Mozart\'s last resting place or the ‘Albertina’ museum, possessing the most important collection of Graphic arts in the world, which will be presenting an exhibition on Mozart’s life.

In the evening enjoy one of Mozart Operas like ‘Cosi Fan Tutte’, ‘The Magic Flute’, ‘Don Giovanni’ or ‘Le Nozze di Figaro’ at the Vienna State Opera, the Volksoper or at the Mozart Theater “Theater an der Wien”.

Day 3

‘Little Amadeus, Mozart’s childhood’,

After breakfast we are going to leave Vienna. We take a ride with the Imperial Majestic Train and enjoy the beautiful landscape of Austria on the way to Salzburg, stage of the world.

Check-in in a central located charming hotel in this romantic city, with individual character and friendly service.

In the afternoon you will visit the “Magic Flute House”, The Mozart House where he lived before he left Salzburg and moved to Vienna, and of course the exhibition “Viva Mozart” at the Salzburg Museum.

In the evening the historical baroque restaurant, Stiftskeller St. Peters, offers you a multiple-course dinner prepared according to traditional recipes from the 17th and the 18th centuries. Imagine the joy of living Mozart’s Salzburg with its colorful costumes and its culinary joys, let you be enchanted. In 1803, it was known as the most ancient central European restaurant.

Day 4

Your last day will bring you to Mozart’s birthplace where the archive, whose sources are of great importance for the cultural and musical history of Salzburg, is to be seen.
The charm of the Getreidegasse, probably Salzburg\'s most famous shopping lane, is not only generated by the high, narrow houses tightly nestled together, the enticing shops and the wrought iron guild signs, but also by the romantic passageways and courtyards.

Have lunch in the Salzburg Fortress (Hohensalzburg) towers over Mozart\'s city. As well as being the icon of Salzburg, it is the largest fortress of its kind in Europe to have survived entirely.

Drive back to Vienna and fly back home carrying with you those unforgettable moments…
