Two Styles in one Town...

July 2010

Perhaps you have already visited Austria,
But this country features a particular talent:

Keeping up with the times without losing a fascination with its past!

Austria recaptures the spirit of a bygone era: ornate palaces, imperial monuments and the echoes of Mozart all remind travellers of life as it once was. Even among such tradition, however, visitors to Austria are discovering exciting new developments with each step. The vibrant, hip lifestyle here has earned a worldwide reputation for quality and innovation, making Austria the destination for those seeking energy, culture, and charm.

Our company, Blaguss, reflects exactly the same spirit:
  - While founded 80 years ago, we are still a family business, so you know you have a stable partner.
  - Our team is composed of the most experienced professionals, but we stay young at heart and keep an open mind.  You can be sure we are continuously adapting to meet the market’s needs.
  - We offer flexibility by designing and realizing your “tailor made” journey.
  - We are highly accessible and helpful, and present for any assistance on site.
  - We have our finger on the pulse of Austria and update our partners on all the new local hotspots and happenings.

With today’s technology, you might be able to organize your trip without any professional help, but we are here to make sure
  - your holiday is the best time of the year.
  - your meeting is the most successful.
  - your incentive is the most unforgettable.

You should relax knowing that someone is backstage taking care of all the details of your stay and making sure it has that special touch that will make your visit one to remember.

Let us guide you down the right path and discover the best solution for any trip!

A Sample Program in Vienna
Two Styles in one Town: Classic & Modern

At a glance

Day 01: Arrival in Vienna – first impressions

Arrival in Vienna –Transfer to the hotel.  Check-in.

Dinner at a “Heurigen,” a classic wine tavern in the suburbs of Vienna, on beautiful garden terraces with home-grown wine, sumptuous food and traditional Schrammel music for a nice, cosy evening.

Return to the hotel by coach.

Overnight at hotel.

Day 02: Get to know the city of Vienna

After a good breakfast at the hotel, guests will be picked up by coach for a grand city tour of Vienna.  This tour is designed to provide a general impression of city while highlighting the most significant sights of Vienna: the Ringstrasse, with its magnificent buildings like the State Opera House, the Museums of Fine Arts and Natural History, Parliament, City Hall, the Burgtheater, the University, and Votiv Church.  Perhaps the high point of the tour is seeing the halls of Schönbrunn Palace, where you will catch a glimpse of how Empress Elisabeth and Emperor Franz Joseph lived.

Lunch at The Café Restaurant Residenz, located in the magnificent setting of the Palace of Schönbrunn. One will find everything one expects and appreciates from both a Viennese coffee house and a good restaurant: attentive waiters, Viennese coffee-specialities, exquisite sweets and traditional Viennese cooking.

After lunch, choose from one of the following options:

Applestrudel in the "Schönbrunn Old Bakery".
See first hand how a traditional pastry chef makes the world famous and delicious Viennese Apple Strudel.

OR

Old Vienna Schnapsmuseum
A visit to the Schnapsmuseum not only gives insight into the tradition of distilling, but is saturated with the atmosphere of the old, bourgeois Viennese family that has run the distillery for generations. The whole interior, from the office to the stillheads, is original, dating from the 1870s to the 1920s, and is still in use.

Dinner and concert at the KURSALON Vienna
The Kursalon, built from 1865 – 1867 in the Renaissance style, is one of the most splendid buildings in Vienna. The Strauss brothers celebrated their greatest triumphs in this historic building, which now features the famous golden Strauss statue. “Sound of Vienna” keeps the lovely tradition alive on a daily basis with classical music concerts of the highest standard.

Overnight at hotel.

Day 03: The ancient heart of Vienna – History and Fun

Guided visit of the Hofburg & Sissi Museum
The Imperial Palace was the residence of the Habsburg emperors until 1918. Originally a medieval castle, of which only the chapel has survived to this day, the residence of the court was expanded and made ever more lavish as the power of the Habsburgs grew and the territory of their dominions increased. Empress Elisabeth of Austria, the famous Sisi, was one of the most beautiful, intelligent and self-willed women of her time. After her assassination, Sisi became a myth: biographies were written, films were shot – and still – there are so many questions.

Lunch at Café Central
The central was a meeting place for artists at the turn of the 20th century. Peter Altenberg still sits there today – now modelled in Papier-maché.  The fashionable glamour, cosmopolitan flair and a touch of extravagance still remain too.

Guided Photo Rally through the Classical Vienna
Take a stroll through the old city of Vienna, equipped with a single use camera and a questionnaire. This activity is a unique way to explore Vienna´s historical center. By listening to your guide´s prompts and trying to capture the funniest and nicest shots while strolling through the old town’s streets, you can earn a prize, to be presented during dinner!

Dinner at Marchfelderof
In the very middle of the virtual Marchfeld plain in Deutsch Wagram - not far from former imperial metropolis Vienna - you find the country Inn ”Marchfelderhof.”  In the old walls of the Inn, you can feel the pulse of a region bursting with history. The native country Inn has long since become a quiet tip for connoisseurs, attracting stars, kings, politicians, prima donnas and the wealthy from all over the world. Friendly, warm and natural hospitality will always be on hand - so be welcome in the house and feel at home!

Day 04: Music & Mystic

Haus Der Musik is a discovery museum with an interactive music game.  Visitors learn interesting facts from music history, experience unexpected sounds and get to know Haus der Musik as a centre for aesthetic, academic, popular and creative encounters with music.

Lunch at Restaurant Griechenbeisl
A 15th century, bay-windowed building with lots of small, vaulted rooms upstairs and downstairs – that’s the Griechenbeisl, a little bit of ancient Vienna.

Prater-Kahlenberg-Klosterneuburg
Passing the romantic and well-known wine-growing villages you reach Kahlenberg where you have a panoramic view of the city. Via the Höhenstrasse you will be taken to the Augustinian Monastery of Klosterneuburg where you visit the Altar of Verdun. On the way back you will pass the impressive UNO-City and the Prater, the Viennese amusement park with its Giant Ferris Wheel. This extensive tract of meadowland between the arms of the Danube is Vienna’s most prized recreation area. The “Wurstelprater” is a collection of booths, amusements, and restaurants. The “Riesenrad,” the Giant Ferris Wheel, was constructed in 1897 and soon became a landmark of the city.

Additional offers:
  - Wine tasting at the monastery
  - Aperitif during your ride on the Giant Ferris Wheel

Dinner over the roofs of Vienna: Sky Bar & Restaurant
Experience an exquisite meal with Mediterranean style while enjoying an amazing view over the roofs of Vienna’s downtown from just in front of the magnificent St. Stephan´s Cathedral. As the name says: it’s your restaurant in the sky!

Day 05: Back home – with a lot of beautiful memories of the stay in Vienna

Free time until departure to the airport.
