Experiences in the Baltic States...

July 2014

The capital cities of the Baltic StatesTallinn, Riga and Vilnius – attract thousands of visitors for their cultural districts and stunning Baroque and Art Nouveau architecture. We want to share some fresh ideas which could help you discover these three historical and beautiful countries.

TV Tower – Rappelling

A NEW, extreme attraction is open at the Tallinn (Estonia) TV Tower. Participants descend from a height of 175 m from the roof of the TV Tower, the highest open observation deck in Northern Europe. This attraction is unique to all of Europe.

Anyone is fit for rappelling – it is easy and does not require great physical shape or previous experience. Clients put on a harness indoors and are then led to the roof. On the roof, all participants are attached to safety ropes and move to the descending spot, where they are given instructions.

Rappelling is available every day from 12 to 6:30 PM, with six participants allowed on the course per hour. Rappelling outside these hours can be booked upon separate agreement.

The descent lasts for a maximum of 15 minutes, with preparations requiring 30 minutes. Participants must weigh less than 100 kg and be at least 14 years old. Rappelling will not stain your outfit; you can wear your regular clothes.

"Riga" Hotel to become five-star "Grand Hotel Kempinski RIGA"

Reconstruction is under way with re-opening scheduled for December 2015. The five-star "Grand Hotel Kempinski RIGA" will have 140 rooms and nine exclusive suites; the total amount of investment in reconstruction is estimated at about EUR 30 million.

The new owners of the hotel note its location in the very heart of the city and the beautiful building that houses it; they want to return the hotel to its past splendor and popularity, making it a top-quality hotel.

The building, constructed in the 1950s, was in poor condition. The restored hotel will also have a spa center, conference halls, restaurants and bars, a terrace with a view toward the Latvian National Opera, and much more.

New Hall for Social Events in Vilnius, Lithuania

Centre Belmontas has opened a new hall especially well-suited for large social events and gala dinners. The gorgeous luxurious Grand Hall can accommodate up to 500 delegates banquet style and up to 1000 cocktail style. The hall is located in a newly built premise which is going to be expanded to one more hall in the near future. Accommodations are also in the plans.

Situated in a superb historical area and surrounded by the nature of RegionalPark, Belmontas Entertainment and Recreation Centre is one of the most popular places for different social events, corporate meetings, gala dinners and farewell parties. Established inside the French mill complex, Belmontas offers seven different beautifully restored halls.

Staro Rīga Light Festival (November 14-18, 2014)

The festival of light, Staro Rīga (“Beaming Riga”), is held in the Latvian capital every November as an opportunity for people to see the city transformed into a multimedia art, light and sound installation. These many light installations are set up on various buildings and monuments, playing with the city’s visual environment.

Local landmarks like the Latvian National Opera building, RigaCastle, the House of the Blackheads and even the new National Library building will be decorated during the festival. Visitors can appreciate the city’s beautiful architecture from a different perspective at night as the days become shorter and nights become longer.
