LITEXPO reopens new state-of-the-art spaces

The largest Lithuanian exhibition and convention centre, “LITEXPO,” is celebrating its 50 anniversary by opening a brand conference centre. This is in pursuit of its mission to not only to maintain its leadership position in the exhibition industry in the Baltic States, but also to become the main centre in the region for hosting international conferences and congresses.

LITEXPO has completed the second stage of its development and modernization. The result is a state-of-the-art and comfortable conference centre with 11 halls. 8 halls have been completely redone and one totally new facility was installed. Conference halls with capacity from 6 to 1800 seats can house both small format business meetings, negotiations or training courses, as well also large scale international events, such as congresses and conferences. The conference centre, with total area of 4,100 sq. m., can accommodate over 3,000 delegates at the same time.

In 2011, among other events, the meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council and international art exhibition ART VILNIUS are to be held at the centre and in 2013, the centre will have the honor of hosting the events when Lithuania assumes presidency of European Union.

600th anniversary of the battle of Grunwald

Do not miss the perfect opportunity to become a witness to the re-enactment of one of medieval Europe’s most important battles. This unique historical performance is carried out with participation of knights from Lithuania, Poland, Germany, Italy, France, Finland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine and even the USA.

Almost 1,500 knights are to take part in the battle festivities. 2010 is an exceptional year, since mid-July marks the 600th anniversary of the victory of the Lithuanian and Polish armies over the Teutonic Order. The occasion will feature a grand scale re-enactment (July 17th, 2010) and accompanying events will include marching parades, concerts, festivities and mock battles.

This year’s program of Grunwald Days (July 15th-18th, 2010) takes place both on Lithuanian and Polish lands and includes the Grunwald Call to Arms, Ulrich von Jungingen’s mounted companies at the Grunwald Fields, medieval festivities, a fair in the craftsman’s village, a tournament of knights, and the Fire Festival.
