Novel Team-Building Proposal for Shanghai

Shanghai is an amazing city, a fusion of East and West, old and new. It is to the East as New York is to the West, a city that represents not only a country but also a lifestyle and energy not to be found elsewhere. Shanghai now has even more to offer to the MICE market.

In September Destination China invited several of Shanghai?s leading hotels to try one of its ?hidden secrets?. We say this because few people in Shanghai are aware that the city has a world class Dragon Boating facility, only one hour?s travel from the City Center. The Shanghai Aquatic Center. It is here that many of China?s top rowers live and train.

Dragon Boating is an excellent team sport, -a great way to give participants an introduction to a cultural icon (which the sport has become in recent years)-, to have a morning or afternoon of physical activity and an exciting competitive team sport.
The 2006 Competition challengers included the Four Seasons, Portman Ritz Carlton, Regent Hotel, Shangri-La and Westin. The champions of the inaugural race were the Portman Ritz-Carlton, but everyone came away a winner. It was a wonderful outing, enjoyed by rowers and supporters alike.

When you bring your next group to Shanghai consider this activity as a great team-building opportunity. Other options at the venue include a challenging rock-climbing facility, obstacle courses and Museum of Military hardware on a scaled down Aircraft Carrier.
