Ritz?Carlton acquires the iconic Nile Hilton

After an extensive four years of renovation period the Nile Ritz Carlton Hotel formerly the Nile Hilton opened its doors. The hotel is adjacent to the Egyptian Museum in the famous Tahrir Square, a strategic location that is also fronting the River Nile in the heart of bustling Downtown Cairo.

The Nile Hilton was the first Western-style hotel to be built in Cairo back in 1959.
A room daily cost then was 3.5 Egyptian Pounds (Nearly 44 Cents of US Dollar by today?s exchange rate), the highest rate in Cairo at the time.
It was the destination of presidents, kings, Arab leaders, film stars and pop stars. Jane Russell, Elizabeth Taylor and Frank Sinatra were among those who stayed at the hotel.
