Mountain Huts...

August 2012

For the winter season: Mountain Huts in the middle of Munich

Two top hotels will open in the coming winter season wonderful mountain chalets in Munich's downtown.

The excellent Mandarin Oriental will once again open a mountain hut on their rooftop (!) that provides a fantastic view over Munich. The very nice Leonardo Royal will open this fall for the first time a mountain hut in front of the hotel. Both offer the cozy atmosphere of a chalet in the mountains – but in the middle of Munich. Both restaurants focus on Bavarian cuisine and can be booked exclusively. Mandarin Oriental's chalet was fully booked in previous winters.

“For years clients were asking us for a mountain hut experience while having incentives or meetings in Munich in winter. With the mountains too far away from Munich for just a dinner, this has opened a great new opportunity for all winter guests” says, Michael Kater, Managing Director.

While the Mandarin Chalet caters for up to 65 persons from 23 October 2012 – 2 March 2013, the Leonardo fits groups up to 100 guests from 1 October – 27 December 2012.

Compass Tours Incoming

After 38 years, Compass Tours Incoming & Top Tours Travel has decided to continue with the name Compass Tours Incoming only.

Both Compass Tours Incoming & Top Tours Travel were founded in 1974. While Top Tours Travel started in Munich in the south of Germany, Compass Tours Incoming opened in Dusseldorf in the western part of the country. In the next decades both companies grew in different markets and focused on different clientele.

In 2001 Top Tours Travel was acquired by Compass Tours Incoming, which in the meantime had opened further offices in Berlin, Hanover and Frankfurt. From that year onwards Top Tours Travel was the most southern office of the entire company. Due to the strong relation to the US markets the name Top Tours Travel was maintained for the next eleven years.

Now the decision has been made to focus on one name only to strengthen the brand and allow easier recognition of the company. “Compass Tours Incoming & Top Tours Travel are one of the veterans of the incoming and DMC business in Germany”,stated Michael Kater, Managing Director, “and we are proud of both names. But in this ever expediting world we need a clear image and one company name.”

From 1 August 2012 the company is called “Compass Tours Incoming”.
