An Amazing Seven Days Adventure Program...

September 2012

Atlantik, DMC was selected as the local DMC by the The Performance Group to design and operate the land arrangements with their team. The program was a great success, providing a mixture of motivational meetings and exciting and invigorating activities and events.

Day One
The guests arrived from various cities in the US at noon. A check-in at the privatized lounge bar of a boutique downtown hotel was arranged. Guests were given time to relax on their own, enjoy refreshments, or a chance to join optional Reykjavík orientation tour at several departure times. The welcome dinner was in a relaxed Viking restaurant which was privatized for the group. After a welcome cocktail, where Vikings “invaded“ the party, the group enjoyed a traditional Viking dinner, while Vikings entertained the group with stories and songs from Iceland‘s Viking era.

Day Two
A full day meeting program. The group comes from a young and dynamic automobile brand so the meeting was not to be too formal. A bistro restaurant located next to Reykjavík‘s only geothermal beach was an ideal setting for refreshing and energizing breaks. For dinner, we privatized Reykjavík‘s trendiest new restaurant for an amazing dinner, enjoying its signature menu of Icelandic specialties, such as Minke whale, lobster, Icelandic lamb and salmon followed with a sinfully delicious dessert plate.

Day Three
A super-truck adventure day with scavenger hunt along the way and topped with a glacier snowmobile action.  An impressive convoy of super trucks awaited the group outside the hotel in the early morning, ready to take the teams to Iceland‘s top attractions such as Geysir geothermal area, Gullfoss waterfall and Thingvellir National Park.

The group was divided into twelve teams, one per vehicle, competing against each other during the adventure day. The teams were taken by surprise at several locations, challenged by extremely strong Vikings for a contest of strength and endurance, offered a taste of the one-and-only ‘Icelandic hot dog’ in a forest shelter, and given the task of finding Viking gold at a stark black sand beach.

The highlight of the day was a snowmobile ride and an open-air glacier buffet on Iceland‘s second largest glacier, Langjökull. The weather was as good as it gets – giving an unexpected chance to sunbathe on a glacier at the top of the world! The super truck adventure went on for the group to enjoy dinner in a restaurant by the sea, famous for its delicious lobster tails and charming and relaxed atmosphere.

Day Four
The guests could choose between three different activities, all according to their different tastes for action and adventure - a quad bike safari in rough lava fields, horseback riding in the countryside or caving in a mysterious lava tube were on offer, all ending at a ski lodge restaurant for a hearty lunch buffet.

In the afternoon, the guests could enjoy the lively city centre of Reykjavík or relax before the main event, the gala dinner, at the new HARPA Concert Hall. The evenings' theme was music, taking full advantage of HARPA‘s awarded architecture and acoustics. The group was welcomed by a girls’ choir, which appeared singing an Icelandic lullaby while descending the majestic stairs of the main hall, leading the group in the Northern Light Hall for dinner. The choir reappeared on the balcony of the hall once the group was seated, followed with distinguished Icelandic artists such as a gospel choir, singers from the Icelandic Opera and a contemporary band. An awards ceremony marked the peak of the evening, followed by a lively party where one of Iceland's most famous DJs performed.

Day Five
The guests again chose between four adventurous activities; a full day river rafting, a full day adventure with an ice walk on a glacier tongue, an afternoon quad bike adventure or a horseback riding tour.  After the day's adventures, the group gathered together in a privatized downtown bar for a cocktail hour where they received cash allowances to enjoy their choices of Reykjavík‘s amazing restaurant scene.

Day Six
This day was at the group's leisure, where they could turn to Atlantik‘s expert advice at the hospitality desk for even more adventurous activities, or simply enjoy the downtown scene with ample shopping opportunities, cafés, bistros and restaurants. The group joined together for the evening at the OldHarbour for a short cruise to ViðeyIsland just off the coast of Reykjavík.

The guests enjoyed champagne and canapés during the scenic cruise to the island, where an evening of musical tribute to John Lennon and Yoko Ono awaited them. During the gourmet dinner, some of Iceland‘s most famous musicians took the group through John and Yoko‘s music, history and their campaign for world peace. ViðeyIsland is the home of the “Imagine Peace Tower” which Yoko Ono dedicated to the memory of John Lennon. It is a tall “tower of light” which projects a column of light up to the sky, emanating wisdom, healing and joy. The tower is powered by sustainable energy from Iceland‘s geothermal sources.

Day Seven
On the day of departure, the group was invited on the way to the airport to the famous Blue Lagoon for a relaxing experience followed by a delicious lunch in the Blue Lagoon's design restaurant - an energizing and relaxing end of an amazing program in Iceland!
