Milan in the Spotlight!

November 2013

Milan: On the Way to the 2015 World Expo

Milan, the Italian capital of fashion, design and innovation, it is always capable of surprising even the most demanding travelers and offers a wide array of exclusive possibilities and ideas. Trends begin in Milan and that’s where both emerging and already famed artists and designers gather from all over the world, ready to give life to their ideas and to groundbreaking projects. In 2015 Milan will host the World Expo, the famous non-commercial Universal Exposition that since 1851 (when the first edition was held in London) not only displays the latest major technological novelties but also represents a place of exchange and encounter, looking for solutions to the collective challenges to which mankind is asked to respond.

In the framework of the events linked to the forthcoming Expo and to pay a tribute to one of the most famous Italian geniuses, Leonardo Da Vinci’s celebrated Codex Atlanticus will be exceptionally available to the public in Milan until the end of the Expo, when it will be placed back in the secure vault room of the PinacotecaAmbrosiana. The Codex represents the largest and most amazing collection of Leonardo’s manuscripts, with 1,750 drawings on over 1,119 pages. The multimedia exhibition (computer generated reconstructions of Leonardo’s inventions are visible on TV screens as well) is hosted at BibliotecaAmbrosiana and at the Sacrestia del Bramante of Santa Maria Delle Grazie, the very same church which is home to Leonardo’s celebrated “Last Supper“ masterpiece as well.

Once in Milan, experience a unique, fashionable dinner at the Armani restaurant, opened by the talented Italian stylist in 2011 and reflecting exclusive Giorgio Armani style throughout.

Most innovative in style and design, the Armani Restaurant is located on the exclusive Armani Hotel's top floor and features a unique Enoteca with a special and wide selection of wine and a magnificent chef’s table located within the kitchen for the most exclusive events. Enjoy your cocktail at the fancy lounge bar, with the background music of the resident DJ before moving into the annexed private dining room for an unforgettable dinner.

Milan: New Art & Events Center Opening

Milan is definitely one of the most international Italian cities, a point of reference for the attentive public to get updates on current events and the global arts developments  of our age.

In early October, the Milan Art & Events Center, the first Contemporary Chinese Art Gallery in town, was officially inaugurated a few steps from the Duomo. The venue represents a multidisciplinary space dedicated to the most pioneering trends of art, and also serves as a link between Milan and the innovative ideas and trends coming from the far east.

The Art & Events center, created by Italian-Chinese association Present Contemporary Art, with its 300 square meters of exhibition space will also be a space of communication and promotion, a laboratory in which you can compare your experiences, make the most of your creativity, plan art projects, encourage new synergies and of course organize and hold exclusive events and galas.

Milan: Wings & Tires to Meet!

The outskirts on Milan surely offer interesting opportunities for visitors wishing to get off the beaten track and explore the surroundings.

Near to the international airport of Malpensa, Volandia, a theme park and museum dedicated to the history of flight in Italy and in the world, leads guests into the history of international aeronautics by focusing on companies that have written the aeronautic history of Lombardy and Italy, from the first balloon flights to outer space exploration.

Its 60.000 square meters, divided in 11 large pavilions, include multimedia facilities, recreational spaces, video games & flight simulators, scale model exhibitions, a library, historic archives, meeting spaces and a didactic planetarium. The exhibition also offers on display some of the most famous and legendary planes in the history of aviation, such as the Bleriot XI, the Douglas DC-3 Dakota, the Italian Caproni Ca.1, SavoiaMarchetti SM79 and Aermacchi fighters together with some of the most recent helicopters and jets.

In Cinisello Balsamo, a few minutes from Milan, the indoor karts racetrack Pala-K stretches over 10.000 square meter and is a unique example of an eco-compatible yet futuristic venue, offering 50 high-tech electric karts and over 600 meters of chicanes, curves and amazing speed tracks. The modern electric karts are not only eco-friendly but also more performing and safer than the traditional ones. The Pala-K structure also includes a lounge bar, a restaurant, a kids area (with dedicated mini race-track) and represents an original setting for any kind of exclusive team building activities or events.
