The Dolomites Alps...

November 2014

The Dolomites are a beautiful Alpine destination located in the northeast of Italy. Cortina, an enchanting town set amid the spectacular Dolomites Alps, is one of the Italy's best-known mountain resorts, put on the international map when it hosted the 1956 Winter Olympics and the city is often associated with wealth and sophistication.

Long before the Olympics, though, Cortina was attracting European alpine enthusiasts who began coming here for stays in the town's first hotels as early as the 1860s. The surrounding Dolomites peaks are simply stunning.  Eighteen of them rise more than 3,000m (9,840 ft), ringing Cortina in an amphitheater of craggy stone. Cortina is located in the fascinating Veneto region (hosting famous cities of art such Vicenza, Padova and of course Venice) meanwhile other renowned centers in the area include Val Gardena and Merano.

Arrival and departure airports – Treviso Airport OR Venice Airport approx. 25 miles (ca. 3 hours & 20 minutes’ drive) OR Verona Airport (depending on hotel selected)

Dolomites Special Activities

The Dolomites offer countless opportunities for unforgettable tours, exclusive visits and challenging teambuilding activities framed in one of the beautiful settings of the Italian Alps. During the winter Cortina is of course one of Europe's most appealing ski resorts, meanwhile in the spring and summer, the forests and peaks that surround Cortina are the perfect place for all kinds of activities.

For those who like to go trekking, Nordic walking and mountain biking, Cortina offers 42 excursion itineraries in a comprehensive network of 300 kilometers.  There are also the historic trails: two routes that cross the military installations from World War One, while another trail leads to spectacular dinosaur footprints dating back to 220 million years ago.

Tours and excursions possibilities are equally limitless, here just a few suggestions and by no means exhaustive:

  • Cortina, Misurina Lake & the Three Peaks of Lavaredo
  • Val Pusteria, Val Gardena & it's hardwood artisans
  • Photographic tour in Cibiana di Cadore with its Murales
  • Villages and lakes of Dolomites
  • Merano Thermal Baths
  • Jeep rally tour to Lake Croda
  • Nordic walking, canyoning, horse riding and mountain bikes exclusive itineraries
  • Prosecco route wine tour
  • Full Day Venice excursion
