The Lawrence of Arabia steam train...

February 2014

Upon arrival at Amman’s Queen Alia International Airport in Amman (Q.A.I.A.) Karma House staff will meet and assist the guests throughout all airport arrival procedures.

After guests have identified their luggage, porters will put it on board of the coach and our staff will lead the guests to the waiting certifiedguide outside the terminal, who will introduce him/herself to the guests and join them on board the coach (luggagecan be sent direct to the hotel).

Guests will depart on board the coaches for a five minute drive to the nearby old Turkish train station named Jiza where the Original Steam Train of Lawrence of Arabian will be waiting to transport the guests to Amman passing through some desert plains.

On board the train there will be waiters offering a pass around breakfast including Danish, croissants and other small sandwiches with coffee, tea and juices and a strolling trio will be on board playing renown international songs that the guests will join them in singing.

After approximately twenty minutes from the train’s departure a group of Bedouin horsemen will perform a "mock attack" and will attack the train riding pure Arabian Horses and forcing it to a complete stop and ‘kidnapping’ one of the passengers. He or she will be reunited with the group after about 200 meters where the train will stroll while the horses and riders are trotting next to it. The, the train will reach a large Bedouin tent specially set upand fully decorated with carpets and props and  actors doing the daily Bedouin chores like pretending to make yogurt and roasting the local coffee beans.

On arrival at the tent a local Folklore Bedouin troop will welcome the guests with their loud festive music and offer them local Bedouin coffee and tea with Turkish delights.

After this short stop, we'll continue to downtown Amman passing through some old neighborhood to arrive at the Al Mahata Old Turkish Station in downtown Amman where waiters will be waiting for the guests with face towels to freshen up. Then the coaches will be ready to take the guests for a panoramic city tour of Amman ending at Fakher El Din Restaurant (one of the most up market and well known restaurants for Jordanians). The building itself was the villa of His Excellency Mr. Fawaz Al Mulki, the Prime Minister of Jordan in the early sixties where now it is a high class restaurant offering the best fresh local starters (mezze) and mixed grill, served on the table. Now it is the best restaurant where the high class Jordaniansociety goes to.After lunch depart to the hotel for check in.
