Welcome to Morocco...

October 2008

Marrakech is not only a fantastic city, it is also a symbol of the Morocco that used to be, and which still survives here. City Ramparts:
With an impressive length of more than 10 km, the city ramparts are among the main attractions of Marrakech.
Medersa Ben Youssef:
The Ben Youssef madrasa was established in the 14th century, but was rebuilt about 200 years later. A madrasa was, and is, a Koran school, which provided for everything from learning quarters to dorms.

  • From the Jemaâ there are several entries to the fantastic souks, and for anyone who needs to relax for a while, there are plenty of cafés around the Jemaâ, where the main attraction is looking at the ongoing activities. The souk is a living place with an intricate infrastructure. Different crafts are assembled in quarters, and nobody seems to be disturbed if you halt and watch the handcrafts perform their century old professions: Souk Chouari (weavings and basket works as well as wood sculpting), Souk des Bijoutiers (large selection of jewelry and gold), Souk el Attarine (Perfumes and oils), Souk des Forgerons (Copperware), etc…
