4x4 Tour from Marrakech...

January 2012

Day 1: Arrival Marrakech

Arrive at Menara airport, meet and greet by a qualified guide and transfer to hotel, dinner and overnight.


Day 2: Marrakech / Ouirgane / Taroudant

Leave by 4X4 from Marrakech to Taroudant via Asni and Ouirgane, a mountainous route
Asni and Ouirgane:A one hour drive (47 km) from Marrakesh and on the road to Taroudant. In the typically Berber village of Asni, people come to barter in the souk which is held every Saturday. Towards Ouirgane, the landscape is reminiscent of North American canyons.

Taroudant is a medieval town nicknamed "little Marrakesh" and has tawny ramparts, picturesque souks and bustling little cafes beneath the arches of Assarag square. In the lovely valley of Souss, Taroudant appears like a splendid immense garden. The entire city lies inside the walls which extend for kilometers and are over six meters high in some points.

Tour of the city: Talmoklate place and Assarag square. Visit of the souk, one of the most picturesque and lively markets of Southern Morocco: jewelry, antiques, copper and much more to discover.

Day 3: Taroudant / Ighrem / Tafraout

Mid morning depart to Tafraout via Ighrem, stopping at various spots to admire wonderful scenery.
Lunch at leisure at Ighrem.
For several kilometers around Tafraoute you’ll notice the massive rock formations for which the area is so famous. From all over the village you can see, set off against the rich green of the oasis, glimpses of different shapes in red and purple granite, looking like meteorite. The best season in this area is mid February when the contrasting lush growth of barley and delicate almond blossom is at its peak. It offers you a landscape rich in colors.

Upon arrival go for a walk in this village discovering this magnificent site.
Check in at hotel, dinner and overnight.


Day 4: Tafraout / Foum Zguid

First drive to Tata via Aït Mansour canyons, visit and stop for one hour walk, lunch at the inhabitant then continue via Imitek to Tata then FoumZguid.
This is  an interesting route of oasis and Kasbahs announcing the desert.
Arrive at Foum Zguid, check in at hotel, dinner and overnight.


Day 5: FoumZguid / Tazenakht / Ouarzazate

Morning and lunch at leisure at Foum Zguid
Possibility to enjoy a camel riad or a quad tour.
Depart to Ouarzazate via Tazenakhte, stop there to visit the carpet cooperative and then continue to Ouarzazate.
Check in at hotel.
Then each client will plant a tree.
Dinner and overnight at this hotel.


Day 6:  Ouarzazate / Marrakech

City tour of Ouarzazate including Kasbah of Taourirt
This former Glaoui residence, situated on the edge of the town on the road to ErRachidia, is considered to be one of the most beautiful kasbahs of Morocco. It consists of a maze of luxury apartments, simple clay houses and crenulated towers which are lavishly decorated with geometric motifs. Part of the fortified village is open to the public.
The Kasbah of Tifoultoute is just at the outskirts of the city.
The Kasbah of Tifoultoute lies about three miles north of Ouarzazate. This beautiful structure, built about 250 years ago, used to belong to the Pasha Glaoui. It offers a splendid view across the valley of the Oued Ouarzazate and the Jebel Sarhro.

Morning departure to Marrakech, via AïtBenhaddou Kasbah with stop there to visit Aït Benhaddou. The fortified village of AïtBenhaddou has been classified by UNESCO as one of the world’s cultural treasures. It is studded with crenulated towers and their building decorated with geometrical motifs and is considered to be one of the most beautiful villages of this kind in Morocco. A program of restoration work is currently under way to encourage the repopulation of the village which is at present inhabited by just five families.
Continue on the spectacular route offering wonderful scenery of the Atlas via the Tichka mountain-pass.
Lunch at leisure.

Then continue to Marrakech, end of the tour by 4X4.
Check in at hotel, dinner and overnight.


Day 7:  Marrakech

A morning historical sightseeing tour of Marrakech by bus, including Menara, Koutoubia, Bahia Palace and the Saadian Tombs.

Lunch at hotel in Marrakech.
Afternoon discovery of the attractive and colorful souks in the medina and the famous Jemaa El Fna square, always alive with extraordinary people constantly performing in this open-air theatre: stroll and shop there with great bargaining possibilities.
Dinner at leisure with an optional dinner show in the evening at Chez Ali, with a fantasia and folklore music bands.


Day 7:  Marrakech & Departure

Breakfast and transfer to the airport to take the appropriate flight.
