Update on Amsterdam...

September 2010

Amsterdam. The city is now a World Heritage Site due to the magnificence and incomparable value of its canals and uniquely historic buildings and architecture, which are a treasure to hand down to posterity. It is not only the proud people of Amsterdam who call their ring of canals unique. For centuries, the fame of these seventeenth-century canals has extended far beyond the Netherlands’ frontiers. This obviously stems from the area’s picturesque ambience, with its water and numerous bridges, its trees and canal-houses. But on a more technical level, the semi-circular design and the ideas underlying it, the water management system and the sheer size of this area, make the canal ring an urban phenomenon that is without equal in the rest of the world.

Never before has Amsterdam had so much to offer that combines history with state of the art modernity. The “IAmsterdam” card can provide free transport in Amsterdam, free entry to many museums and reduced rates in many restaurants.

Hotel & Venues

Two new hotels will open in 2011 – The Conservatorium, with 130 super-deluxe rooms built in the former Music Conservatorium, which dates from the very beginning of the twentieth century and overlooks the Museum Square, and the City Inn, located close to Central Station and offering 550 rooms and many other facilities – due to open in the spring.

Renovations, renovations, renovations were the focus in 2010: The Renaissance , The Marriott, The Okura, The Grand, The Crowne Plaza, The Holiday Inn, The Novotel and The Park Hotel are all restored, renovated and are more beautiful than ever. Some properties still have to finish their renovations and some more are planned for 2011. This all makes Amsterdam affordable again for any budget.

The Martime Museum dating from 1650 will reopen in September 2011. This superb location offers a magnificent venue for a gala for up to 700 guests in a glass topped inner court, allowing you to sit under the stars of Amsterdam.

The Hermitage is an incredible museum displaying astonishing Russian art – a real Moscow collection in Holland!

The Stedelijk Museum of modern art will house a temporary exhibition in its restored original building starting on 28 August of this year and will continue until January 2011.

Delta Travel, Amsterdam recently organized yet another incredible and highly appraised function in the PTA (Passenger Terminal Amsterdam) and the adjoining Mövenpick Hotel. This combination provides fabulous opportunities to let your imagination run wild – whether for exhibitions, large scale meetings, product launches or whatever springs to mind – and everything can be “on site”.

There is hardly a more romantic setting in the whole world. Give us a chance to make your dreams a reality – we will organize an unforgettable event for you!
