Look to Norway! Look to the City of Bergen – “The Gateway to the Fjords”!

November 2004

LOOK TO NORWAY!
LOOK TO THE CITY OF BERGEN!
«The Gateway to the Fjords»

Bergen is not only one of the most popular cruise harbors in Europe, with an estimated 250 cruise ship arrivals scheduled for 2005, it is also currently claming the 25th position in the world with regard to the number of international conferences being hosted.

The city’s main conference center – the Grieg Hall Conference Center has picked up on this fact and launched their plans for an expansion which will double their capacity to 3.500 delegates and 6.000 square meters of exhibition space – scheduled for completion in 2007.
More than 80% of all international meetings in the world have a participant number of 3.000 or less and the facilities will be tailor-made to meet these requirements.
The expansion will lift the conference infrastructure in Bergen to another level and it is anticipated by the travel industry in Norway that it will establish Bergen as one of the top MICE destinations in Northern Europe.
Why? – Because we are able to offer the unbeatable combination of culture, nature and state of the art conference facilities

Being «the gateway to the fjords», the city is the natural starting point for breathtaking fjord explorations. The world longest fjord - The majestic Sognefjord or to the charming Hardangerfjord with its colorful orchards, are easily accessible from Bergen on a leisurely day trip.

Bergen is an old town – dating back to the Viking era with a rich maritime history. The city counts the largest area of wooden architecture in the world and a major part of the town center is on the UNESCO List of World heritage Sites.

Bergen is hence the ideal conference destination, offering the attractive combination of high quality conference facilities, nature interactions, rich cultural heritage and pulsating city life.
If you add up that Bergen is a ‘walking city’ and that all hotels, sights, restaurants and the Grieg Hall Conference Center are within easy walking distance from each other – then you have an unbeatable combination!
