Come explore the City of Oslo - The Viking Capital of Norway!

August 2007

Oslo never fails to deliver unique experiences and tastes. Oslo with its old history yet modern feel, gives the visitor a wonderful mixture of both old and new. A modern atmosphere in a historic Viking city! Despite low population numbers, the night life is really pulsating, with numerous bars, clubs and cinemas. Oslo has also a renowned theatre and musical scene!

Oslo has a considerable geographic size, but there are only some 450.000 people living there. Oslo does hence offer unique nature interactions that are difficult to match anywhere else in Europe. Hills and forests on one side and the magnificent Oslo fjord on the other surround the city. The ingredients for a great MIC arrangement are hence obvious!

Both summer and winter, Oslo will never fail to offer unique experiences and tastes!!

Our creativity and focus on details will make your adventure in the Norwegian Viking Capital into an experience that will be remembered and cherished by your clients for the rest of their lives!

Grims Grenka

Norway\'s most fashionable hotel opened August 1st 2007: A design hotel without the attitude!

Design Hotel
Grims Grenka will be a unique design hotel focusing on genuine, professional and excellent service.

Their goal is to become Norway\'s best hotel, and the hotel will in many ways appear to be revolutionary in regards to interior design and service. Internationally, Grims Grenka will be classified as a five star hotel, says Atle Hovde Concept Developer and General Manager at Grims Grenka.

Their ambition is to make Grims Grenka so exhilarating that guests don\'t want to leave.

Exotically Norwegian
Grims Grenka will consist of 42 large deluxe rooms and 24 suites, many of them larger than 70 square meters (750 square feet). The rooms will be in three different styles; green for summer, blue and white for winter and gold for the mysterious, decadent and sensual way of living. Further you will find various sections for pleasure and enjoyment.

In August 2007 the hotel will open Oslo\'s most spectacular rooftop lounge. There will be an atmosphere of decadence where your Cosmo or Chablis may be enjoyed on a warm summer day while absorbing views of Oslo\'s urban jungle.

During the course of 2007 an Asian Fusion Restaurant will open – inspired by Hakkasan in London, Tao and Buddakan in New York – a nightclub that will transform Oslo\'s nightlife, a private cinema available for business or pleasure, and an urban spa. The hotel will also offer a board rooms by international standards, a fitness centre, and a Tea and Cocktail Bar based on organic raw materials.

The unique style of Grims Grenka will be the one of Eastern mysticism and sensuality, influenced by our exotic Norwegian nature, colors and sounds, continues Atle Hovde.
The hotel is beautifully situated by Akershus Castle in the historical and most urban part of Oslo, only three blocks from Karl Johans gate, five minutes from the central station and three minutes from Aker Brygge. The hotel is designed by Kristin Jarmund Architects and will be part of the First Hotels chain.

Grims Grenka will cultivate luxury, intimacy and sensuality!

The Grand Historic Sightseeing of Oslo

The coach and professional English-speaking guide will meet the group on the pier in Oslo.  The tour will commence with a drive past the historic Akershus Fortress, City Hall, National Theatre and the Royal Residence.

The tour will start with a visit in the Vigeland Sculpture Park; it is a large park containing the collection of more than 200 fantastic sculptures made by the world famous Norwegian artist Gustav Vigeland. It is the most popular attraction in Norway with some 1 million visitors per year and an excellent example of Norway’s great cultural heritage.
We will then attempt to introduce the group to the strong maritime history of this city. The tour will include an inside visit to the Viking Ship Museum, where the visitor can view genuine archaeologically excavated Viking Ships. At the same time, they will learn the fascinating facts about the Viking era!

Next stop on the tour will be to the equally popular Kon-Tiki Raft Museum exhibiting the original papyrus rafts and other objects from the world famous Norwegian explorer Thor Heyerdal\'s many expeditions across world oceans! The Kon-Tiki Museum is a private foundation, which houses a range of boats and artifacts from Thor Heyerdahl´s expeditions. Here you can see the original Kon-Tiki raft (1947) with a 30 foot whale shark underneath...statues and a secret family cave from Easter Island (1956)...the papyrus boat Ra II (1970)...and an exciting collection of archaeological finds from Easter Island, East Polynesia, Galapagos and Peru. The visitors will appreciate the important role Norway has had as a nation of explorers!

A refreshment pause can be incorporated here with a stop at the Najaden Restaurant inside the Norwegian Maritime Museum with a grand view across the Oslo fjord! Have some lovely Norwegian strawberries and sparkling wine while enjoying the panoramic sea view!

Final stop on the sightseeing will be at the Holmenkollen Ski Jump & Ski Museum, which is one of the oldest jumps in the world, from 1892. This was the Olympic venue in 1952 and the view from this point is unbeatable, with a marvelous view of the city and the surrounding fjord and forests. Here, visit the Norwegian Ski Museum, built inside the ski jump itself - which illustrates 4000 years of skiing history. The museum also contains exhibitions showing equipment from the world famous Norwegian Polar expeditions.
After a tour here, the visitors can add on and take the lifts and stairs to the Ski jump tower itself – where a surprise serving of refreshments can be arranged to accompany the fantastic views! What about an aquavit shot as a pre-lunch ‘pick-me-up’? The ski jump and museum is very impressive and interesting and the visitors will not be bored!
A 3 course lunch will be served at the Frognerseteren restaurant. The Frognerseteren Restaurant is placed in one of Oslo’s most unique and spectacular buildings. The Restaurant is an old dragon style building from 1892. The group will be served in a restaurant that in truth is a living museum! The building is located on the very top of the Holmenkollen Hill, some 435 meters above sea level.
After lunch, the group members can enjoy their coffee outside on the terrace and soak in the atmosphere and the fresh air!

Deep Sea Fishing Excursion in the Oslo Fjord

The cruise will introduce them to the beauty of the inner Oslo fjord area, where there are many island and narrow sounds. Oslo is quite unique in the way it is laid out and how it interacts with the fjord and the rolling hills that surround the city. Oslo is a beautiful city and the fjord provides ideal conditions for many different species of fish - and, of course, good and varied angling. The methods that can be used are bottom-fishing with bait from a drifting boat or sea angling with a heavy pirk. Go out deep sea fishing with experienced fishermen and try it yourself!

We will charter a vessel that would suit the group’s requirements and needs – above picture is just a suggestion:  M/S Nordsol can take as many as 100 persons and has a spacious deck – perfect for a fishing excursion. The saloons in the rear of the ship are perfect for serving of refreshments and lunch.

An alternative to having lunch onboard would be to dock at the Dyna Light House.
The light house is situated alone on a rock out in the fjord in beautiful surroundings with a fantastic view of the city of Oslo and the lively boat traffic. The beautifully restored light house dates back to 1874, which opened its doors to private exclusive parties in 1992. It offers an unforgettable, intimate Norwegian maritime atmosphere. It creates a wonderfully informal ambience that invites for a great networking opportunity. Enjoy a delicious Norwegian seafood lunch, including a range of shellfish and freshly caught fish. The group will get introduced to old local maritime history and enjoy a local accordion player play Norwegian coastal music.
The ultimate Oslo Fjord experience.
