Let’s protect the storks!

August 2015

On the occasion of its 25th anniversary, Mazurkas Travel, DMC Poland took under its care a stork family in the Polish village of Łaniewio.

You can track their being on our online camera at www.mazurkas-bociany.com.pl/en

Łaniewo - a village in the municipality of Lidzbark has for long been inhabited by colonies of storks. Wetlands, forested backwaters of ŁynaRiver and people who love these birds and wildlife are conductive for storks to settle.

Mazurkas Travel, DMC Poland has been specializing in organizing incoming tourism to Poland for 25 years. On the occasion of our anniversary we have decided to take care of white storks in Łaniewo. The white stork is the most Polish bird of all.  Every fourth stork living on our planet is Polish.

The crucial condition for the preservation of storks is to protect their feeding grounds. Together, let's take care of the wild ponds and improve the state of nests on the chimneys and pillars.

It is not surprising for such a large bird, that its nest is a real architectural marvel. It can weigh up to two tons. A pair of storks raises from 2 to 6 young ones a year.
