What?s new in Krakow?

April 2004

In a few months we expect the opening of a big conference center at the oldest university of Poland ? Jagiellonian University ? erected in the 14th century. This center will be an ideal venue for meetings and conferences gathering up to 1000 participants. This is a big change. Until now the biggest venue in Krakow ? the Slowacki Theater ? had a maximum capacity of 500 people.

Krakow finally has its first deluxe accommodation opportunity:

Sheraton Krakow
First five star hotel in the historical capital of Poland. This modern structure is perfectly located ? at the footsteps of the Royal Wawel Hill, overlooking the Royal Cathedral and the Vistula River, just a ten minutes walk from the historical heart of Cracow - Old Town Square. All hotel rooms are spacious, elegant and modern. The hotel has 238 rooms, 8 conference rooms with a capacity of 400 people. The internal patio gives an impression of a wide, open area in the heart of the building. The official opening date is the 1st May of 2004.

Another top class accommodation is possible:

Radisson SAS****
One of the best locations in Krakow ? just a five minutes walk to the Royal Castle at the Wawel Hill and to the Old Town Square. From the hotel rooms guests can admire a splendid view to the Planty ? a green belt surrounding the Old Town ? established on the former defense walls area, the Franciscan Monastery and the Archbishop Palace. Interiors of the hotel are designed in bright colors with many wooden details. Breakfast buffet is widely known as the most varied one in the city. Built in 2003, it has 196 rooms and 3 conference rooms.

Krakow attracts visitors with new gourmet restaurants ? giving to its guests an excellent opportunity to try traditional cuisine of this part of Europe.

Just two examples:

Klezmer Hois
Located in the Kazimierz district, the former Jewish quarter of Krakow, approximately 5 minutes by bus from the Old Town, this restaurant is easily accessible from the historical Old Town area.

Across from the Remu?h Synagogue, yet another one of Krakow?s unique dining experiences takes place in a Jewish style apartment, located in a building of former ?mykwa? (traditional Jewish bath) from the 19th century, with authentic furniture of this period. Live Jewish music concerts are performed every night.
Cuisine is typical Jewish, based on old traditional recipes of Polish Jews.
Among the menu?s highlights guests may find: goose liver in raisin and almond sauce, ?szabas? soup, salmon in almonds, ?klezmer? cream cake another specialty of the Jewish cuisine. The restaurant has 3 rooms for 120 guests.

There is also a new dining opportunity in the heart of old Krakow:

Perfectly located - overlooking the St. Mary?s Church, this restaurant gives to its guests a splendid overlook of the always crowded and busy Old Town Square ? the biggest one in Central Europe.
This is one of the most prestigious restaurants in Krakow located in a house built in the 14th century. The interiors are decorated with 19th century furniture and paintings of Polish artists from the so called, ?Ecole de Paris? as for example J
