Fish in Lisbon is back to Carlos Lopes Pavilion

Fish in Lisbon, the most emblematic of the Portuguese gastronomic events dedicated to sea gastronomy, is already marked. It will be from April 5 to 15, 2018, at the Carlos Lopes Pavilion, which will host the 11th edition of the initiative that counts with the most prestigious national and foreign chefs, among them, Ana Ros, of the restaurant Hisa Franko, in Staro Selo, Slovenia, voted Best Female Chef of the World.

The 11th edition of Fish in Lisbon will also be marked by the new decoration of the space of the venue, in the Carlos Lopes Pavilion, where the event takes place for the second year in a row.
In addition to the presentations in the auditorium, Fish in Lisbon 2018 will have, as usual, ten restaurants in the region of Lisbon that operate permanently, from noon to midnight, with dishes based on Portuguese fish and shellfish.

Fish in Lisbon is an organization of the Tourism Association of Lisbon, with the support of the Lisbon City Council and production of DOT Global and Lufthansa LGSP Events.


Portugal is the Best Tourist Destination in Europe

Portugal won, for the first time, the prize for Best European Destination of the World Travel Awards, the 'Oscars of Tourism' at a ceremony held in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Present at the ceremony, Secretary of State for Tourism, Ana Mendes Godinho, said that this unprecedented distinction is an honor and a great pride and that is the result of everyone's commitment to make Portugal a tourist destination of excellence, with a diversity of unique offer and which extends throughout the territory.

In addition to Portugal, Austria, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Turkey were nominated for the prize.

In this ceremony, Portugal was the country that received the most awards. According to information from the Secretariat of State 30% of the total. That is, the country collected 37 'oscares', 13 more than in 2016.

At the ceremony, Tourism of Portugal, for the fourth consecutive time, was elected the best official European tourism body.

Luís Araújo, president of Tourism of Portugal, said that this is undoubtedly also a recognition of our tourism strategy and the good results that, year after year, the sector has been achieving. It is not by chance that the Portuguese example is already considered an international case study.


Port of Lisbon elected Best Cruise Port of Europe

The Port of Lisbon was voted 'Best Cruise Port of Europe' at the 2017 World Travel Awards, for the quality of services and the infrastructure available to tourists who visit and stop in the city.

The Port of Lisbon received the distinction in the gala of the World Travel Awards, that took place in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

Last year, 522 thousand cruise tourists passed through the Lisbon pier, of which 472 thousand were in transit.

Worldwide, Lisbon is nominated for 'Best Destination City Break', 'Best Cruise Destination' and 'Best Cruise Port'.

It is recalled that the new cruise terminal of Santa Apolónia contemplates a building with 13,800 square meters, with capacity for 800 thousand passengers a year, which represents an increase of 300 thousand compared to the current numbers.


Delta Airlines flies to the US from Lisbon and Ponta Delgada

Delta Airlines has announced that it will start operating from May 25 2018, new routes to the United States from Lisbon and the Azores.

The new route, departing from Lisbon and landing at Hartsfield Jackson International Airport in Atlanta, will complement the flight to New York that was launched this year.

The seasonal route between the Azores and New York will be operated five times a week, linking the island of São Miguel with more than 80 destinations in a row.

In a statement, Delta Airlines' transatlantic vice president Dwight James said that the route between Lisbon and the United States has been successful, so the airline is increasing the Portuguese network to respond to the search for travel in the months of summer.
- Delta's service between Lisbon and New York has been so successful that we are increasing our Portuguese network to meet the demand we have seen for travel in the summer months, he said.

Dwight James added that while boosting inbound tourism, flights will bring more opportunities for trade between Portugal and the US - the country that is the largest trading partner outside the European Union.

For the crossing between Lisbon and Atlanta, Delta has scheduled a Boeing 767-300ER, which has a capacity of 225 seats, while for flights between Ponta Delgada and New York will use a Boeing 757-200ER, which carries 199 passengers.
