Sevilla & Olé!

January 2015

Seville is one of the quintessential destinations in Spain, tradition, bullfighters, flamenco and a lovely city that can be a great destination for both meetings and incentives.
Luckily, new flights have been confirmed for 2015 and the city of Seville will be connected internationally to London, Munich, Frankfurt, Toulouse, Porto, Düsseldorf and Casablanca, apart from the already existing international flights.

So maybe the time has come to follow the scents of the orange trees and take your event to Seville.

Stay in Style: Alfonso XIII Hotel – Luxury Collection

Hotel Alfonso XIII is a historic hotel in Seville, located on Calle San Fernando, next to the University of Seville. Designed by the architect Jose Espiau y Muñoz, it was built between 1916 and 1928 especially for the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929. It officially opened on April 28, 1929, with a sumptuous banquet attended by King Alfonso XIII and Queen Victoria Eugenie of Battenberg.  With 151 rooms, the Alfonso XIII is the place to be in Seville. Completely renovated in 2012 the Alfonso XIII shines with all services you may expect plus the enchantment of being in a historical palace.

Do as locals do: Tapas Hunt

One of the most celebrated activities for Sevilians is of course going to the tiny bars and enjoying a drink with a “tapa” while socializing with your friends or your neighbors in the bar.

Let SHE Spanish Heritage DMC organize a Tapas Hunt for your group. Visiting different bars and trying different tapas and drinks while visiting the beautiful quarter of Santa Cruz, you will feel like back in time. Seville is full of history and tales that you will discover during your escorted tapas tour. Do you feel hungry?

Learning about bulls and bullfighting

While a controversial tradition at some point, bullfighting is part of the history of Spain, and nothing better that learning about it to have your own opinion. Join Spanish Heritage for a visit to the house of the Marquis de Albaserrada where you will see the bull farm and will get to know about the tradition. Apart from seeing the bulls in freedom, you will also get to know about the horses and will enjoy a horse show and the selection of the cows for bullfighting. What about ending your day in the countryside with a nice BBQ or Paella?

Flamenco

Flamenco is a form of Spanish folk music and dance from the region of Andalusia in southern Spain. It includes cante (singing), toque (guitar playing), baile (dance) and palmas (handclaps).

First mentioned in literature in 1774, the genre is thought to have grown out of Andalusian and Romani music and dance styles. In recent years flamenco has become popular all over the world and is taught in many countries.

On November 16, 2010 UNESCO declared flamenco one of the Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. We invite you to learn more about the interesting folklore by visiting the amazing Flamenco Museum and why not enjoy a master class of Flamenco where you will learn the basics and have fun on the way. Of course we will serve some Sangria to celebrate your advancing!.

Gala Event – Casa de Pilatos

The aristocracy is part of Sevilla as this has been an important spot for the rich and powerful during the Golden age of Seville. What a better place to celebrate and reward your team than the Palace. La Casa de Pilatos (Pilate's House) is an Andalusian palace in Seville, which serves as the permanent residence of the Dukes of Medinaceli. The building is a mixture of Renaissance Italian and Mudéjar Spanish styles. It is considered the prototype of the Andalusian palace.

On the beautiful patio, let the sounds of Spanish guitar entertain you and why not some Opera? Carmen, the famous Bizet’s Opera takes place in Seville and what a better place to have a representation than your gala event?

After an event full of memories take your horse carriage through the lovely streets of Seville on the way back to your hotel and dream about the next time you will be in beautiful Seville.
