Unveils Barcelona’s venues...

October 2007

Barcelona has become an internationally acclaimed destination during the last decade.

The Olympic Games in 1992 meant the starting point of a new era for this beautiful Mediterranean city and provided the basis for the most needed infrastructures.

Barcelona’s International Airport, undergoing a major expansion to be ready by 2009, has flights with Europe’s most important cities, plus some North American, African and Asian airports.

The city is well known for its architecture, with Modernism sharing the space with the trendiest most modern design.

A great hotel inventory, with emphasis on 4 and 5 stars properties, is an added value for the Incentive and Meeting organizer.

To top it all, Barcelona has unique venues which can be rented for special functions (dinners, cocktails, presentations).

Spanish Heritage, working very often with some of the most outstanding venues, proudly suggests the following ones, amongst the long list of possibilities:

La Llotja (Old Stock Exchange)

This is an impressive Gothic Hall, within a Neo-Classic building. The Hall has a decorated, carved wooden ceiling, and the stylized pillars are of a considerable height.
Outside the Hall, there is a beautiful courtyard, which is ideal for cocktails prior to dinner.
The upper floor has several rooms, very ornate and classically decorated which can also be used for a reception.

National Museum of Catalan Art – Oval Hall

Located atop the hill of Montjuich, overlooking the city, stands the impressive National Museum, built in 1929. This landmark has a domed oval shaped room with capacity for up to 800 persons for a Banquet.
The view from the main entrance to the National Museum is striking, since most of Barcelona can be seen at its foot. The area outside is ideal for a cocktail prior to the gala dinner.
Inside, the venue has many possibilities for decoration, including a permanent organ on one of the sides and a tiered amphitheatre-like structure on the opposite side.

Bell Recó

Bell Recó, a luxurious and very exclusive mansion, was built between 1940 and 1950 and is one of the stateliest mansions in Catalonia. Only 20 minutes from Barcelona, its terraces overlook magnificent gardens containing a beautiful waterfall and centennial Eucalyptus and oak trees. The building, with its incredible ceiling painted by the world famous Catalan painter Josep Maria Sert, has modern facilities for banqueting and conventions and is suitable for events up to 450 attendees. Its granite columns, wooden walls, the fine tapestries and paintings in the rest of the house create a very special atmosphere and combined with its location, size and great artistic value, Bell Recó really is an exceptional venue.

Casa Batlló

Located on the aristocratic Paseo de Gracia, right downtown Barcelona, Casa Batllo is one of the finest examples of architecture by the architect Antonio Gaudi.
In Modernist style, several floors can be used for special functions. Worth mentioning are the Main Floor, or Noble Hall, the Attic rooms and terrace, the Coach House and the Coal Cellar. There is also an outdoors patio, right at the back of the house.
It is ideal for cocktail and dinner functions.

Marques de Comillas Hall (Maritime Museum)

Near the Harbor, Columbus monument and the Ramblas promenade, the Maritime Museum, once Barcelona’s shipyards, is probably the largest and best kept example of a civil Gothic structure in all the Mediterranean.
The building houses an outstanding collection of model ships, including a life-size replica of the Royal Galley which fought at the battle of Lepanto.
The Marquis de Comillas Hall, with its characteristic columns, and bare simplicity, is ideal for large functions up to 800 attendees.

Spanish Heritage has experience in working at all these venues and can provide theme concepts, decoration, catering, audio, lighting and entertainment for a complete project.
