Barcelona’s New Airport Terminal

Barcelona is a city which is fully equipped to host meetings, events, congresses and conventions. In recent years, Barcelona has proved itself to be one of Europe’s most attractive and dynamic cities, and this has turned it into one of the most preferred incentive trip destinations.
The city of Barcelona is proud to announce the opening of the new Airport Terminal T1 on June 17th 2009. The opening of the new terminal will enable Barcelona airport to adapt to successive increases in traffic, with the aim of consolidating its position in Europe\'s Top 10, an exemplary hub airport in the south of the continent for the traffic of passengers and goods, with a large, wide-ranging network of services, and the capacity to house the main air alliances.
T1 is a logistical and technical complex building: more than 100,000 passengers per day will pass through it and more than 15,000 people will work there. The architectural proposal, based on the project by Ricardo Bofill, combines an international and multicultural character with the luminosity and environmental quality of Mediterranean architecture. The building is perfectly adapted to the scenery of the surrounding landscape; it has a highly functional arrangement for passengers and airlines and natural light dominates in all public areas. It has therefore been possible to integrate this great communications gateway and service center into an area of great ecological interest minimizing the environmental impact.
Barcelona and its new Airport Terminal are waiting for you!
