“Fêtes de Genève”, August 3-13, 2006...

July 2006

After the success of 2005 with more than 2\'200\'000 spectators, Geneva Tourism & Convention Bureau is this year going to offer the people of Geneva as well as the many tourists present, a rich and varied program that will live up to its reputation as the biggest popular Summer event in Switzerland.

We are again going for the pre-festival idea with 14 evenings of concerts and shows in the Jardin Anglais from Thursday 20 July 2006.

The highlights of the 2006 Fêtes de Genève, which will be the 60th, will be marked by the 1st Spring Rowing Cup on the Lake, the 2nd World Caravan, the 2nd Slow up” as well as the big flypast.

This 2nd World Caravan, an itinerant show around the end of the Lake, will include musicians and dancers from 15 countries and 4 continents - a festival of dance and percussion from around the world that could be called the “Ethno parade\".

The 2nd Fêtes de Genève “Slow up” will liven up the back streets of the left bank, on a 26 km circuit open to some 25\'000 cyclists, roller-bladers, scooters and walkers, who will set out in quest of some exceptional panora mas.

For the first time a rowing regatta by teams of 8 with cox, called the \"Rowing Sprint Cup\", will take place between the Pont des Bergues and the Pont de Mont-Blanc. There will be commentaries for the public on each race, which will last 2 minutes.

Finally, the Big Flypast “of the Aces\" will dazzle the tens of thousands of acrobatic patrol fans with the involvement of the prestigious Breitling Jet Team Patrol (France) and the mythical Swiss Patrol.

The idea of the Lakeside Terraces will be taken up again, highlighting local recipes concocted by the top chefs of the canton, not forgetting the Geneva wines that will have pride of place on all the food stands and restaurants at the Fêtes de Genève.

This year again, one of the most beautiful firework displays in the world, presented in two set pieces, will light up the Geneva sky. This big pyromelodical firework display set to Celtic Music will leave you with an unforgettable memory.

Geneva Tourism & Convention Bureau and the Fêtes de Genève Organising Committee invite you to share this festive atmosphere, in a burst of shared bonhomie. Information:
