Outstanding Changes in Tunisia...

March 2011

January 14th, 2011 was a landmark date in the history of Tunisia and the entire Arab world.  The Tunisian people have acquired the freedom they had been thirsting for under decades of repression and dictatorship. The price paid was unfortunately, but not unpredictably, the number of martyrs that have fallen during this memorable uprising.

We, like the millions of people who aspire for freedom, dignity and a better life, are overjoyed by the outcome of the Tunisian revolution and shall unfailingly stand by the authors of such an achievement in their quest for democracy.

You are no doubt aware of the excellent relationship that exists between Europe and Tunisia. You are also aware, or at least suspect, that the tourist industry in Tunisia is important, nay vital, to the Tunisian economy. It represents 6.5% of the GDP and employs more than 350.000 people.

Deprived of its tourist revenue, the country is likely to experience unprecedented hardship, to put it mildly.

But we are not unduly worried and we have faith in the future. What we have achieved is no small feat. Overoptimistic? We do not think so.

Today, Tunisia is the first country in the entire Arab world to reach democracy. We are confident that it has reached a universal status and the very few who have not heard of, or have not set foot on its soil, are now aware of its existence. This small North African country that has risen to the status of the great nations of the world and many should visit in the not too distant future.

In the midst of all this unprecedented upheaval, foreigners, whether visiting or living in Tunisia, have never been jeopardized in any way. Is there any better indication that Tunisians are a respectful and welcoming people?

If you have been following the news, you must have noticed that things are getting back to normal again. Therefore, we are kindly asking you to head back to Tunisia any time you choose. Not only do we need your support but we can safely promise you an extremely pleasant stay here, where you will no doubt encounter "newly-born" Tunisians breathing in the sweet air of freedom.

We will do our utmost to make your holiday, meeting or incentive an unforgettable one and we will continue to provide the highest standard of products: social events, seminars, thalassotherapy, etc.

Tunisia is a popular destination for meetings and incentive groups from all over the world. It has firmly established itself on the European conference and incentive market, and displays the professional know-how and ability to make every occasion a guaranteed success.

With over 3,000 years of history, year-round sunshine and 700 miles of sandy beaches, Tunisia offers business travellers an excellent destination with a difference.

The hotels are first class and whether you’re planning a conference or incentive, Tunisia has the facilities and the expertise to make your event a success.

Tunisia offers excellent corporate facilities within luxurious, modern hotels at competitive prices. Whether you are looking to organize a small meeting or seminar or a large-scale conference, Tunisia has something to suit your requirements. The five star hotels have conference rooms capable of holding 400 people, as well as a range of different sized meeting rooms. Each hotel boasts modern equipment and efficient service to ensure your program is a success.

There are numerous possibilities for post-conference activities, too. Options range from an evening meal at a exciting Tunisian restaurant, barbecue on the beach, a gala dinner under Bedouin tents or a sumptuous banquet in an ancient fortress.

Relaxation is a key factor in the success of a corporate event and Tunisia can offer a wide range of relaxation activities, including golf, thalassotherapy (spa treatments involving seaweed mud wraps and massage techniques), windsurfing, sailing and horse riding.

Tunisia, particularly in the towns of Tunis and Hammamet in the north and Tozeur and the Sahara Desert in the south, offers a wealth of original venues and ideas for incentives and gala dinners.

Why not hold your event in a palmary, a traditional crafts village, a former cathedral, a Roman amphitheatre or an ancient fortress? Restored buildings, desert surroundings, Bedouin tents and film sets are just some of the unique and intriguing locations available.

Barclay’s Group Travel has the local knowledge and ability to respond to all your needs, whatever the size or formality of the occasion.
