News from Istanbul

Turkey's biggest city delights visitors with some of Europe’s hippest hotels and boutiques, not to mention a booming contemporary arts scene.

In 2013, Istanbul will host a handful of forward-thinking fetes, including the inaugural edition of Art Istanbul International (September 14-17), showcasing exciting new works from Turkey, the Middle East and beyond. September also heralds the larger Istanbul Biennial (September 14-November 10).

In response, creative hoteliers are flocking to the city, meaning that visitors can look forward to 2013 outposts from the likes of Shangri-La, Raffles and Hilton, among others.

Shangri-La Bosphorus

Shangri-La Bosphorus is the newest among the luxury hotels in Istanbul and plans to open its lavish doors in the spring of 2013. With 169 rooms and 17 suites, the spacious and luxurious hotel also has an enviable location right next to the famous Dolmabahçe Palace in the Beşiktaş neighborhood right by the water. Other important neighborhoods such as Nişantaşı, Taksim, and the Old City are also in close proximity.

All rooms feature bath amenities from Bulgari, Nespresso coffee makers, heated bathroom floors, tea, fruits, bottled water, and complimentary high-speed internet access. As for dining, the hotel will feature an authentic Chinese Cantonese restaurant ''Shang Palace,'' as well as all day dining at IST TOO that will serve Asian, Turkish, and Mediterranean cuisines, while the lobby lounge and hotel bar will be at service for drinks. Last but not least, the state-of-the-art health club will feature a heated indoor pool, while the CHI spa will offer eight spa suites as well as Turkish bath services for couples or singles.

Raffles Istanbul Zorlu Center
