Motivational & Inspirational Event Ideas by ODS Turkey

March 2015

Following on are the some examples that ODS Turkey succeeded last year;

A Night in the Harem of Suleiman The Magnificent

According to Ottoman tradition, Harem is a sacred place, where favorites and family members of the Sultan’s live. No one is allowed to enter this part of the Ottoman Palace except for the sultan, the queen mothers, the sultan's consorts and favorites, the princes and the concubines as well as the eunuchs guarding the Harem. A Harem Eunuch is a castrated man whose job is to watch over the security of Harem.

In this Gala Dinner, we took our guests on a priceless journey to this very special part of the Ottoman Palace, where no foreigner is allowed to enter.
During the whole evening, a Harem Girl called “Nurbanu” narrated the guests at some cross points of the event. She dressed like a favorite concubine and wears a head set. The dinner took place in the 1001 Direk Cistern.
The 1001 Direk Cistern was constructed in the fourth century as  the second biggest water reservoir in Istanbul. It is a massive reservoir that is surrounded with a thick wall all around. Inside the cistern there were 224 columns, today you can see only 212 of them exist.  After the Ottoman Conquest of Istanbul in the seventeenth century the Cistern was used by the silk and yarn producers as an atelier. Today it is used for special events and meetings.

A Roman Night in Ephesus

Exclusive gala dinner at Ephesus, one of the most important sites in Turkey, which was an ancient Greek city, and later a major Roman city, on the west coast of Asia Minor, near present-day Selçuk, Izmir Province.
It was one of the twelve cities of the Ionian League during the Classical Greek era. In the Roman period, Ephesus had a population of more than 250,000 in the 1st century BC, which also made it one of the largest cities in the Mediterranean world. Unique & unforgettable event for their gala dinner, award ceremony and entertainment with a predominantly mid-age delegate audience, an exciting and VIP atmosphere…

Upon arrival, guests heard music coming from the Amphitheatre. The waiters dressed in Roman style costumes served drinks and canapés from the trays and a bar set up was located at the entrance of the Odeon.  As guests entered the Odeon thru lit torches a classical orchestra composed of 10 musicians from Izmir state opera was playing and giving a concert for the duration of the cocktail. The Odeon and the street we were overlooking was also be artistically lit by lights. Classical music concert was scheduled to last for 30 minutes. As concert finished our guests were guided to the dining area.

While they were walking they heard the sound of a Flute and a Harpist. They was with us and performing throughout the dinner.. After our main course was served a Soprano also joined the harpist and gave a private performance to our guests.

Tables and chairs were covered with elegant covers, center pieces made from flowers and candles were placed. The highlight of the evening was the ballet performance of “Antonious and Cleopatra” on stage. ‘Antonious and Cleopatra’ was performed by two famous artists from Istanbul state opera & ballet. This was a performance of 25 minutes and truly a dramatic dance which ended by a snake biting Cleopatra and she finally dies in the hands of Antonius.

The finest exclusive evening event at the finest Goreme Open Air Museum which is a member of UNESCO World Heritage List since 1984; consisting of monasteries placed side-by-side, contains the finest of the rock-cut churches, with beautiful frescoes (wall paintings) whose colors still retain all their original freshness.

Night was kicked off with welcome cocktail reception during the sunset, right in front of Carikli (Sandals) Church. This was followed by taking our seats to see whirling dervishes … a breathtaking and mystical performance, start with soft and peaceful sound of reed flute, and dervishes come out from the dark caves one of the after to start the ceremony…

The path from dervish performance area to the flat surface located in the middle of the museum is the dinner area was illuminated by torches as well as rock formations by colored lighting systems.
Dinner was covered by excellent selection of famous Turkish carpets…

In case of bad weather scenario, to erect a see-through tent was our back up… F&B service was done by the well experienced and strong catering team of Cappadocia region.
