Celebrating GMID – Hybrid Conference for MICE Youth Challenge
To mark this year’s Global Meetings Industry, we not only recognise and applaud the contributions of our peers and colleagues in meetings, incentives, conferences and events’ world, but proudly highlight the contributions that euromic members have made, especially in this last year or two of challenges for our industry that lives on travelling and meeting face-to-face:
Sumate Sudasna of CDM Thailand at the heart of the AFECA (Asian Federation of Exhibition and Convention Associations) MICE Youth Challenge
This annual ‘youth’ challenge, now in its sixth year was held on Nov 25, 2021 in hybrid format in Bangkok, with participants joining online from 8 countries. 14 participating teams who are students attending an accredited University or College within Asia competed for this prominent annual Asian MICE Youth Challenge aimed a inspiring innovative thinking and creativity for the MICE industry: a great achievement during the industry’s most challenging time caused by the pandemic. Some few hundreds of spectators also logged in to witness the challenge
This annual event has garnered much praise in the MICE industry and has been the platform to develop and motivate the students to showcase their talents by presenting their genius novel event and convincing the judges that their country/area is THE BEST MICE destination in Asia!
Teams conceptualized, business-tested, and create a launch event in one of the components of MICE: M “Meetings”, I “Incentive Travel”, C “conference”, E “Exhibition”, to showcase the distinctive features and facilities of their country/area, and to convince the judges why their destination is the BEST to host their created event. In addition, they will also be judged on creating the most attractive, effective and strategic business plan.
Sumate Sudasna is not only one of euromic’s key members, with CDM Thailand, but also the President of TICA – Thailand Incentive and Convention Association, and represents them in turn as a board member of AFECA. Sumate was honoured to be the chair of their event, AFECA’s Asia MICE Youth Challenge 2021-22.
As Chairperson, Sumate Sudasna said: “I am delighted that this Youth Challenge has managed to inspire so many student teams, their institutions and AFECA member associations to participate in our initiative to strengthen the industry by motivating future leaders and prove that business events prevail as contributors of economies. I believe that the 6th AAMYC was the most exciting to date!”
And Sumate would know – he took his place at heart of proceedings and judging!
