Egypt is known for its vast historical lineage and is known to have countless buried treasures that are waiting to be discovered, and this year we were able to find a couple of them.
Most Recent Discovery in Cairo
Ancient priestess Hetpet’s tomb of the 5th dynasty (4400 years-old) was discovered by the President of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, Dr Mostafa Al Waziri in March of 2018. He started excavation on the 3rd of October 2017 and it was his intuition and former knowledge of the area that lead to this discovery, when the Minister of Antiquities, Dr Khaled Al-Anani made the funds available.
This tomb is partly built in stone and partly mud bricks. The paintings on the wall are (in good condition) and deserve to be seen. Permission to visit this tomb could be obtained.

An ancient necropolis was discovered in Al Minya, holding mummified remains of a high priest of the Egyptian god Thoth, the ancient god of the moon and wisdom who was depicted as a man with the head of an ibis.
Along with the necropolis more than 1,000 statues and four alabaster jars designed to hold Thoth’s internal organs were discovered.
The discovery was made 240 km away from Cairo, Egypt. Archaeologists started the excavation late last year on a mission to locate the rest of the cemetery of Upper Egypt's 15th district, during ancient times.
