Michelin star dining in Mendoza

Michelin stars and starred restauranters have always been a huge draw for the discerning group as an incredible incentive experience. Add in one of the world’s most sought after wine regions, and you have a very special offer to treat your group and guests indeed.

Argentina as a country has just become the first Spanish-speaking country in Latin America to be included in the Michelin guide, with fourteen Argentine restaurants recently receiving stars.

But while other respected guides have often looked just to the capital Buenos Aires, the Michelin guide has taken in, tasted at and awarded restaurants in the Malbec-and-more region of Mendoza as well. Their accolades have reaffirmed the area’s position not just as a gastronomic paradise, but also as an area full of excellent boutique hotels, wonderful wineries, culture and Andes vistas. All of which euromic Argentina, ATP can arrange and tailor for you and your group – to your specific requirements.

Argentina Travel Partners (ATP) Managing Director, Merina Begg has always experienced places that the team at ATP offer to their guests – so they can be sure that personal knowledge, insights and contacts allow ATP to tailor your experience as you’d wish. Merina recently visited Mendoza, and took advantage to try out two of the recently awarded restaurants: Zonda and Azafrán.

Azafrán is in Mendoza city, and after seeing chef Sebastián Weigandt in action (he serves some dishes personally) and tasting the modern, creative fare with a strong focus on vegetables and presentation, the accolade is well deserved.

Merina also visited Zonda restaurant in the Lagarde Winery (half an hour from the city), where chef Augusto Garcia takes advantage of his organic vegetable garden to provide an outstanding gastronomic experience which is original, delicious, and ecologically responsible. Zonda also received a Sustainable Practices Green Star and its companion Fogon grill in Lagarde received a commendation, making the Lagarde winery a gastronomic lodestone in Mendoza.

The Michelin guide attracts fine diners from across the globe, and many travellers are more likely to visit a destination with a Michelin-rated restaurant than one without, especially if it is a discerning group looking for the best in incentive travel. Merina can certainly attest to, and happily/highly recommend to you both Azafrán and Zonda for their brilliance.
