Developing Future DMC Leaders Through the euromic Academy 2026
What happens when you invest in people?
How euromic’s global community came together in Marrakech to strengthen leadership, build lasting relationships and demonstrate that the greatest investment any destination network can make is in its people.
The Future of Our Industry Begins with People
The future of the meetings and incentive industry will not be shaped only by destinations, technology or changing client expectations.
It will be shaped by people—and by the decisions we make today to invest in them.
Knowledge can be taught.
Trust must be experienced.
The people entering our industry today will become tomorrow’s destination experts, trusted advisors and innovators. They will build relationships that span continents, transform local knowledge into unforgettable experiences and shape how clients experience the world.
That belief sits at the heart of the euromic Academy 2026—an investment in emerging talent and in the future of an owner-led global network built on collaboration, curiosity and shared expertise.
In Marrakech, Morocco, 37 participants, including 22 first-time attendees, came together to learn from one another, challenge new ideas and experience first-hand how meaningful professional relationships are built.
More than a professional development initiative, the Academy reaffirmed one of euromic’s core beliefs:
The strongest networks are built through people. Exceptional experiences begin with local knowledge.
The Academy: Investing in the Future of DMC Leaders
The role of the destination management company continues to evolve.
Today’s clients expect far more than flawless logistics. They seek trusted partners who understand how to transform destinations into meaningful experiences through insight, creativity and authentic local expertise.
That requires more than destination knowledge.
It requires curiosity.
It requires creativity.
It requires relationships.
It requires people who understand their destinations from within.
The euromic Academy was created to develop exactly those qualities. Through interactive learning, peer collaboration and shared experiences, participants explored what it means to become the next generation of destination leaders while building relationships across cultures, countries and businesses.
The Academy is not simply about what participants learn.
It is about how they return inspired to apply that learning.
As one participant reflected:
“After the academy, I realized I’m more motivated at work, looking for different ways to apply what I’ve learned. Sometimes that means asking clients more questions; sometimes it means looking for memorable touches for a program; and sometimes it’s about consciously using AI tools that help me improve my work.”
That is the real return on investing in people.
Not knowledge that stays in a notebook.
Knowledge that changes how people think, lead and create exceptional experiences.
A Journey That Became Much More Than an Academy
But the Academy’s greatest lessons are not always found in a meeting room.
Not every success story begins with a plan.
Sometimes it begins with an unexpected opportunity.
Among the participants arriving in Marrakech was Esraa Mahmoud, an Assistant Account Manager MICE from, EMECO Travel, our euromic member in Cairo, Egypt. She joined the Academy as a last-minute replacement after a colleague from her company was unable to travel because of visa challenges.
It was also her first international flight.
For many travellers, boarding a plane is routine.
For Esraa, it marked the beginning of an entirely new chapter.
Arriving in Marrakech, she found herself surrounded by colleagues from across the euromic network – many of whom she had never met before.
During the Academy’s cooking class and the dinner that followed, conversations flowed naturally. Stories were exchanged. Experiences were shared. Strangers became colleagues.
When Esraa mentioned that she planned to continue with a solo holiday in Lisbon after the Academy, two participants from Portugal Travel Team immediately realised they would be travelling on the same flight home.
Without hesitation, they offered to stay in touch, introduce her to their city and welcome her to their offices.
What followed beautifully captured the spirit of euromic.
A professional connection became a personal connection.
A destination introduction became a genuine welcome.
A global network became a community.
That is something no agenda can schedule.
It is something a community creates.
The Power of Local Knowledge
Marrakech: A Classroom Without Walls
One of the defining lessons of the Academy is that extraordinary destination experiences begin long before guests arrive.
They begin with local knowledge.
Not simply knowing where to go.
But understanding the people, traditions, culture and relationships that bring a destination to life.
Thanks to the expertise and generosity of S’Tours Morocco, Marrakech, led by the incredible Kamil Skalli, and this team, became far more than the host city.
It became a classroom without walls.
Every experience demonstrated that the true value of an owner-led DMC is not found in a catalogue of venues or activities.
It is found in the ability to reveal the authentic character of a destination through the people who know it best.
For participants, Marrakech became a powerful reminder that exceptional experiences are created through insight, trust and human connection.
For future euromic members considering hosting the Academy, the opportunity extends far beyond logistics.
Hosting is an opportunity to showcase your destination, your culture and your expertise to future leaders who will carry those experiences – and your destination – throughout their careers.
Why Being Owner-Led Matters
At the heart of euromic is a simple belief.
The best destination experiences are created by people who know their destinations best.
Every euromic member is an owner-led destination management company, deeply connected to the people, culture and character of their destination.
Owner-led businesses make decisions differently.
Relationships are personal.
Reputation is personal.
Success is shared.
That independence creates accountability, builds trust and ensures that local knowledge remains where it belongs—with the people who live it every day.
The euromic network combines two powerful strengths:
The confidence of a global community.
The authenticity of local expertise.
Together, they transform partnerships into lasting relationships and experiences into lasting memories.
Building the Future Together
The success of the euromic Academy is not measured only by attendance numbers or completed sessions.
Its impact can be seen in the confidence gained, the ideas shared and the relationships created.
As one returning participant shared:
“This is my 3rd Academy and definitely it was the best one regarding the contents and activities!”
Each Academy builds upon the previous one, evolving alongside the needs of the industry while maintaining the values that define euromic:
Trust. Collaboration. Independence. Shared expertise.
As an owner-led global network, euromic understands that its greatest strength lies in its people.
By investing in future DMC leaders, the Academy helps ensure that the next generation of professionals continues to protect and strengthen what makes local expertise so valuable.
Because ultimately, exceptional meetings and incentive experiences are not created only by where people travel.
They are created by the people who understand the destination deeply enough to reveal its true character.
This is the power of local knowledge.
This is the strength of euromic.
Building the Future Together
The success of the euromic Academy cannot be measured only by attendance, presentations or workshops.
Its real impact is seen long after participants return home.
In the confidence they gain.
The ideas they implement.
The relationships they continue to build.
As one returning participant shared:
“This is my 3rd Academy and definitely it was the best one regarding the contents and activities!”
Another reflected:
“The Academy was excellent. This year’s program introduced fresh and valuable content that kept attendees engaged and focused throughout the sessions. The activities were highly interactive and thoughtfully designed, while also providing a wonderful showcase of the destination and its unique character.”
These reflections are more than positive feedback.
They are evidence that investing in people creates lasting value for individuals, member companies and the wider meetings and incentive industry.
Because every extraordinary destination begins with local knowledge.
And every extraordinary network begins with people.
